Do ozone generators actually make the air worse to breathe?
Ozone can be an effective way of disinfecting water, and some manufacturers have developed systems they believe can perform this type of purification in the air. The problem with these systems is that the ozone concentrations needed to remove germs and pollutants can create unhealthy breathing conditions. Researchers at the University of California, Irvine, have found that some machines produce ozone levels comparable to peak smog levels in major cities.
