What should I know about changes in refrigerants?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through the Clean Air Act, regulates the production and use of refrigerants. Air conditioning and heat pump refrigerants containing chlorine are being phased out because of ozone depletion. Lennox cooling products now use chlorine-free R410A refrigerant, instead of the older R22 refrigerant (Freon). Because R410A contains no chlorine, it's ozone responsible. Plus, R410A allows higher efficiencies than R22, so it not only protects the earth's ozone layer, it also saves energy. Click here for more information.
