The cooling efficiency rating for air conditioners and heat pumps is Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, or SEER. The higher the SEER, the better the energy performance, and the more you save.
National efficiency standards compliance
As of January 1, 2015, new federal regulations for cooling efficiency were put in place. These new regulations mandated higher minimum SEER ratings, with different standards for different parts of the country.
